Best position for a fan filter unit within a cabinet

There are two methods for situating a fan filter within your cabinet for optimal performance.

The first and preferred method is to situate the fan filter at the top (reverse flow) and the filter at the bottom. As warm air rises it means the fan forces the hot air to move outside of the cabinet while the filter at the bottom intakes cool air from the environment. This method means that the airflow is more even throughout the enclosure as there is constant negative pressure and thus less turbulence and more consistent pressure.

Alternatively the fan filter can be mounted at the bottom of the cabinet and the filter at the top. This airflow direction is known as standard flow. The fan forces the cool air to move inside the cabinet while the filter ejects hot air to the environment. This does have a benefit of positive pressure, which helps expel dust from any gaps within the cabinet. In order to operate your fan filter in this airflow direction you will need to change the direction of the fan.
