How to correctly clean electric passenger steps!

AVS Steps is gaining a world wide reputation for step design and the manufacturing of electric passenger steps.

But as our business continues to grow alongside this expanding market we’ve decided to publish this incredibly easy to guide on how to care for your step correctly.

Our steps should be cleaned at least once per month and more often if conditions dictate by using a power hose or even a standard hose.

If completed frequently enough and lubricated with a power wash., the step will “self-clean” the mud and dirt straight off making maintenance a breeze. Remember to clean not just the tread (the bit you stand on) but the side of the step too.

Once cleaned it is very important that the step is left to dry. This should take at least a couple of days depending on the heat and light exposure. Once it is completely dry you can use a silicone based spray to lubricate the mechanism.

Every 6 months the base should be removed and the insides cleaned vigorously particularly next to the stainless steel tubular runners. All of which of course can be carried out by our service team but we recommend actively maintaining your step for prolonged use.

You may still need your step serviced once in a while and we recommend you register your product to ensure it’s covered. Failure to clean the steps regularly or to service the steps may result in the failure of the step in service.

This will not be covered under warranty. We recommend that mud flaps are fitted to your vehicle. Your step serial number is on the front RHS of the tread. This will tell AVS exactly what type of passenger steps you have.
