Health & Safety Competent Person Scheme

The Competent Person Scheme

With both the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and The Management of Health & Safety Regulations 1999 in place, in order meet requirements a ‘competent person’ must be selected from the business owner/director.

A person who is competent is described as ‘having the necessary ability, knowledge, or skill to do something successfully’ which we’re sure we could all label ourselves at times. However a competent person in terms of health and safety is someone who has sufficient training and experience or knowledge that allow them to assist you properly. The level of competence required will depend on the complexity of the situation and the particular help you need.

To enable you to fulfill this requirement ISA offer membership to small and medium sized businesses into a ‘Competent Person Scheme’.
