AVS Steps started in 1993 by Karen Clarke and has rapidly grown into the largest supplier of vehicle steps in Europe and one of the largest in the world. With the widest range of passenger steps available, AVS ensures that any vehicle can be serviced. AVS Steps was originally called Accessible Vehicle Specialist and following a huge increase in numbers injured in road traffic accident, met a growing demand to fit Safety belts in Buses, Coaches and other transport vehicles.

However, as time progressed, seatbelts became installed as standard leaving AVS with the task of changing its core products and principles. It was on a trip to Holland that Keith Clarke spotted an American made step and thought it looked like a good idea. Within 2 years AVS were manufacturing their own range of steps from premises in Staffordshire. Providing electric and foot operated steps for taxis, minibuses, ambulances and other accessible vehicles including individual mobility vehicles.

Since moving to Shropshire, production expanded to meet the needs of the UK and the ever increasing export markets. The AVS K type steps have gone on to the best selling steps ever sold in the UK. It has been joined by 33 other step types meeting a huge range of customer requirements.
