Is Star City still shining?

As a venue which was launched back in 2000, by non other than stars George Clooney and Mark Wahlberg, we ask is Star City still a good day out?

Easily accessible from the M6 if travelling by car, or by train from Aston Train station, this is a destination at the heart of the West Midlands. When you pull up to Star City it certainly has the appearance of an exciting entertainment centre, especially when fully lit at night. Free parking will also be music to the ears of anyone travelling by car.

So what does Star City have to offer visitors? Well, like many other entertainment venues it is centred around a large cinema. The VUE cinema however has 25 screens including 3 gold class screens. The Gold class ticket is strictly for over 18’s offering luxury seating with a fully licensed bar and prices include complimentary popcorn. This is certainly something worth investing in as it enhances the cinematic experience.

Star City also includes an indoor mini golf complex enjoyable for both children and adults a like. The complex features two 18 hole courses and prices are reasonable. They also run various offers throughout the year to make your visit more affordable, especially if visiting as a family.

If it is family fun your after then why not head to the family fun zone. There are many activities on offer here including archery, slingshot & BB tin can alley and arts and crafts. An enjoyable day out whilst at the same time supporting a local children’s charity called free@last.

Other entertainment includes a tenpin bowling alley, a funfair, an amusement arcade, laser station and even an indoor rock climbing centre. Also, if your looking for some adult entertainment then the Genting club offers a range of casino games and lovely restaurant.

With all of this fun you are bound to have worked up an appetite, but not to worry, there are plenty of food establishments to choose from. If your looking for a quick bite then Star City includes a KFC, McDonalds and Subway. If you are after a more substantial meal then why not head over to Nandos, Bella Italia or Pizza Hut. So, there are all the good points for Star City, after 14 years in business it doesn’t seem to have lessened its appeal. But are there any downsides? Well, The venue is centered around a central atrium which we are sure when it first opened would have been an impressive feature. Unfortunately as this leads off to such inviting restaurants and entertainment venues this space is often left empty and can make you feel like you are walking through an empty shopping centre.

But does this matter? Of course not.. Star City is still shining brightly in our eyes and whether it’s a first date, friends having a laugh or a family looking for fun it is sure to be a great day out. http://starcitycentre.co.uk
