Special Trunking for RAF Museum

special trunking

Screeduct have recently supplied 300 meters of special trunking to the RAF Museum in Hendon, London. The museum has recently gone through a multi-million pound renovation, in preparation for their centenary celebrations next year. The renovation even include the renovation of a Spitfire, that will be placed to give the appearance of it taking off across the air field. The overhaul has been designed to replicate the original shape of the airfield, giving visitors a true sense of the historic events that took place their.

The special trunking was supplied to exact specification. To meet the aesthetic need of the clients, Screeduct applied an epoxy powder coating in RAF grey. This allows the trunking to blend in seamlessly with the overall look of the museum. Interchangeable lids we’re supplied with the trunking, to give the customer total flexibility. 26 lids were supplied with circular cutouts for access to the socket boxes.

They worked alongside electrical contractors Bower Fuller Ltd to ensure that the trunking would meet the exact electrical needs of the museum. The trunking was manufactured from 3mm thick pre-galvanized steel, and some 10mm mild steel chequer plate trunking. The client specified the trunking to be 260mm wide x 100mm deep, with a detachable divider in case it was required.
