An ISO 9001 is a document that outlines the requirements of an organisation; these must be achieved when making their product or providing their service in order to reach the standards of the quality control system. The most recent version of this document was created in 2008 and is called the ISO 9001:2008 this superseded the previous version ISO 9001:2000. So how does it work? Well, the document ISO 9001 does not define the actual quality of the product or service, but it puts in place steps to keep the quality consistent across the board, and continually improve this process by removing weak areas. This means if the company can produce a good product most of the time the ISO 9001 will implement steps to help you make them good all of the time.
