Colours that will Brighten any low-light Area

In just about every home, there’s a small window, low ceiling or awkward angle which can conspire to a room being dark and lacking the sunlight which we all love. Choosing the most appropriate paint to reduce this can be tricky and while most people would slap the brightest white they can find on their walls, this can actually do the opposite of what they want.

White can be a deceiving color. In rooms where sunlight beams through, white is a great choice as it reflects natural light. On the other hand, in rooms which don’t see much light, white wont help open up the space in the way you wish. A great tip when deciding whether to use white is if you need to turn the light on during the day, then there’s not enough light in the room for a color like white.

Warm-toned Neutrals

Looking for the ideal color to help brighten a room can be challenging. Our first recommendation is a warm-toned neutral. Medium tones are great for making a dark space seem brighter. Be careful to not go too dark as these can make the room seem smaller.

Lavender

Lavender is an excellent choice for all kinds of dark rooms. With its dusky tones to purple-based taupe’s, it works well in any kind of room. Pairing it with pastel décor may give the room a more playful look, or similarly, pair it with whites and greys for a more sophisticated look.

Yellow

When your room doesn’t reach sunlight, bring the sunlight to it! Yellow is great for brightening up any room in your home, whether it be a kitchen, bedroom or even bathroom. Pairing well with white décor and light wooden details, makes a room instantly feel warmer.

All shades of Pink

Pink adds personality as well as sophistication to any room. With shades like pastel going right through to a bold fuchsia, there is a shade of pink for everyone. With bolder shades, be careful not to make the room feel smaller by using it on all four-walls.
